The Esusuverse
Rental Data is Now Part of the Mortgage Underwriting System
On July 8, the Federal Housing Finance Agency made history. Rental payment data will officially factor into the mortgage underwriting process through the adoption of VantageScore 4.0.
This is more than a policy change; it’s a fundamental shift in how creditworthiness is assessed in America. One that brings us closer to a financial system that reflects all of us, not just the privileged few.
For nearly a decade, we at Esusu have championed this future. Today, our co-founders Wemimo Abbey and Samir Goel reflect on this milestone, what it means for the 45 million credit-invisible Americans, and the work still ahead.
Esusu at LAFC Fanfest
Esusu showed up and showed out at Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) Fan Fest!
As the official rent reporting partner of LAFC for the past few years, we were proud to be on the ground once again, bringing the Esusu experience directly to the fans.
Our booth was all about education, empowerment, and community. From showing fans how rent reporting can help build credit to spreading the word about our Golden Giveaway (where one lucky winner will receive FREE RENT for a year, up to $25,000!), we made meaningful connections with hundreds of attendees.
And this year’s event had a special twist! It was the first in-person event for our summer interns. They’ve been working across Strategy, Product, Data Science, Analytics, and now they can say marketing. It was incredible to see them out in the field, sharing the Esusu mission with energy and purpose.

Identity Services Spotlight
Our Identity Services dashboard lets you verify renter income and identity in seconds—saving time, reducing fraud, and protecting your bottom line. Visit our page for a guided walkthrough of features and how they’re helping real clients.
New Feature: Self-service PMS Integrations
Connecting your Property Management System (PMS) just got easier. With our new two-step integration flow, admins can now add an integration directly from the dashboard in a matter of clicks.
Click the “Add Integration” button at the top of the Integrations page to get started. From there, you’ll:
- Select your PMS from a list of supported systems
- Enter your credentials in a secure modal
- Our system instantly verifies your information and either connects successfully or flags what needs to be fixed—no guesswork required.
- You fix the problems in your PMS and Re-test.
This upgrade is all about getting you up and running faster, with less friction for your team.

Resident Resources
New marketplace offer: Instacart
We’re excited to announce a new Marketplace offer with Instacart!
Now residents can get fresh groceries delivered to their door, or ready for pickup in as little as 30 minutes. Even better: their first 3 orders come with $0 delivery fees. Residents can order from 80,000 different stores from local grocers to chain stores and have items delivered right to their door.

Help residents reach financial goals
We’re excited to introduce Milestones, a new feature in the Esusu App designed to help renters track—and stay motivated toward—their financial goals.
Whether a resident is saving for a security deposit, building an emergency fund, or working toward buying their first car, the Milestones tab makes it easy to set and visualize their progress. Renters can create custom goals, enter how much they’ve already saved, set a timeline, and track their updates over time.
Once a goal is added, Esusu provides AI-generated savings insights to help residents better understand what it will take to reach their goal. It’s a small step with big potential: improving financial confidence and increasing app engagement.
This first version is part of an early beta release, and while renters will manually track their progress today, we plan to automate this in the future using secure bank data integrations. We’re actively collecting feedback to guide those next iterations.

Financial Education with Operation Hope
Workshops with Operation Hope are free for any renters in Esusu Communities. Encourage renters to take advantage of workshops or 1:1 expert coaching.
