What is this program all about?

Through the Affirm and Esusu partnership, eligible renters can apply for a short-term loan (Pay in 2) to cover rent upfront and repay over time, offering greater financial flexibility and support for rent payments.

Affirm, a leading fintech company known for 'Buy Now, Pay Later' solutions, acts as the lender, underwriting and issuing rent payment loans in this partnership.

Who is Esusu?

Esusu is a mission-driven fintech that helps renters build credit and access financial tools. It connects renters to rent reporting, rent relief, financial coaching, tax filing, and now flexible rent payments through Affirm.

How do I apply for a loan?

Download the Esusu App, subscribe to our services, and confirm your rental information to get started.

How often can I apply for an Affirm loan to split rent?

You can apply for one loan per month. For each month that you want to split rent, you will need to apply again.

Who is qualified to apply for the program?

Renters living in participating Esusu properties may be eligible to apply, provided they meet the program's basic criteria: residing in a partner property and passing an identity verification process to confirm their rental unit.

How much should I apply for?

Your expected monthly rental obligation will be prepopulated based on the lease details from your landlord’s property management system. You will not be able to adjust the amount.

Can I apply for other third-party utilities and housing-related expenses?

No. Affirm can only be used to cover rent through Esusu.

If I am qualified based on my rental unit, am I automatically approved by Affirm?

No. Qualification through Esusu confirms your eligibility to participate in the program and apply for a loan with Affirm. However, final approval is subject to Affirm’s eligibility check.

Can I be qualified through Esusu and still be denied by Affirm?

Yes. Even if Esusu confirms your qualification to participate in the program as a renter in a partner property, Affirm will perform a credit and risk assessment before approving the offer. Esusu cannot override Affirm’s decision.

If I am denied a loan, can I apply again?

Affirm’s decision is final. However, you can apply again in the future and Affirm will perform a new eligibility check.

If Affirm approves me, what happens next?

You’ll confirm your loan with Affirm, and then receive a confirmation email. Once your offer is finalized, the approved funds will be transferred into your landlord's bank account within 2-5 business days.

How do I make repayments to Affirm?

You can make or schedule payments at affirm.com or in the Affirm mobile app (available for iOS and Android). Affirm will also send payment reminders via email and text.

Can I pay off my Affirm loan early?

Yes! You can pay off your Affirm loan early at any time without penalty.

Will Affirm charge any interest & loan fees?

No. Affirm will not charge interest or loan fees for this product.

Can I return or cancel the Affirm loan?

Once your Affirm loan has been confirmed, funds will be settled to your landlord. Refunds will depend on your landlord’s policies - Affirm cannot provide a refund without confirmation from Esusu (and your landlord).

How quickly will my approved rent payment be reflected on my rent ledger?

It generally takes 2–5 business days for your rent payment to be processed and reflected on your ledger. To avoid delays, please make sure you apply for your loan at least 7 days before your rent due date.

Can I apply for next month's rent in advance?

No. You can only apply for the rent amount that’s currently due for the upcoming month. We don’t support applications for future month’s rent at this time.

What if I have an issue with my Affirm account?

Please contact Affirm directly for questions related to your application, loan, payment schedule, or account access at Affirm Support.

What if there’s an issue with my rent disbursement or rent ledger?
